None of you believe that just maybe he was playing a role? Meaning, he was so far over the top that it was done just to get a paycheck? The guy didn't rape kids, beat women, rape women, etc. He was a TV news guy that took waaaaay too many Vicodin. Nobody that follows the sport of wrestling can shit on him for that. You may not have liked his opinion, but the worst thing you should be able to say about him is that he's full of shit. He's no different than Howard Stern, Mancow, or any of those other "shock jock" types, he just laid heavily into political bullshit because it's a lot easier to fake that you know what you are doing than most real life news. |

Loved his show, listened every day from the early 90's up until about 10 years ago...helped that I agreed with him politically on most stuff, but hew as also GREAT at doing radio and could hold an audience for sure... |

I think he started out as the "heel political talk show host", but started to get so far deep into it that he started to believe his own BS. Along with his fans, he took himself too seriously. Like: "I'm going to say this CRAZY IDEA to get a rise out of you. Oh wait... people are into this and believe it? Well, then..." I remember working in a warehouse, assembling furniture, with a guy who loved Limbaugh in the summer of 1994. It was an experience. I thought it was hilarious that he called his show "The EIB Network", which supposedly stood for "Excellence in Broadcasting". Also thought I was hilarious as I used to rib the guy for listening to "Douche Limbo". |

Went to college with a guy, Matt, who would blast Limbaugh's midday radio show on level 10 on his stereo so our entire floor could hear it. This was around 1992. I was the RA. "Quiet Hours" did not go into effect until 7pm every night, but I was getting some blowback from other guys on the floor who were either trying to get some studying done or just chilling. Had to have a talk with Matt, who also had sort of a loner, me-against-the-world attitude. Got him to turn it down finally. Matt also collected laser discs and had like 200 movies. He wouldn't stop trying to sell me on how LDs were the next big thing and were going to put VHS out of business. Funny how the most ridiculous memories stick with you. I can't even remember when this would have been, but I was driving around and had Limbaugh on for a bit (maybe late 90s), and he was talking about how he had discovered a secret about weight loss. This was revolutionary. It was going to change his life. He said the secret was that he could eat pretzels with fat-fat cream cheese. I had an aunt who was really into him back in the early 90s. She loved Rush and absolutely hated Howard Stern. She was a hardcore Christian who lived religion and would have multiple TVs and radios going at the same time . With her everything was God 24/7. She was a nice lady, but it was a bit much. My uncle was an alcohol and I can understand why. Not saying it was entirely her fault, but having to live with that day after day certainly doesn't make you wanna stop. I used to listen to KMOX in St Louis on my drive to work, for traffic news. Then one day, every single morning they would have a clip of Rush in a raspy high-pitched voice shrieking about what horrible thing someone he didn't like was doing.
