I cleaned out my closet and I'm looking to replace some old T-shirts I have that are pretty beaten up after 30 years, either with the same shirt or something different but from the same athlete or artist. This is proving to be a very difficult task.  Something that should be as simple as buying a Don Mattingly Yankees shirt isn't leading to many options.  The "official" stores have a pitiful selection other than his jersey, and don't make anything from the '80s anymore.  I'm mostly being directed to eBay and Etsy, where I'm finding some cool stuff but many of the shirts are used and not my size and I don't trust their condition.  Anyone have any ideas or can vouch for a seller or site that sells high quality products?  Looking for '80s Yankees, Iron Maiden, Metallica, Alice in Chains, Black Sabbath, Alice Cooper, GNR or similar, preferably from the era but not worn.  I don't want to be buying from a dude who's also cleaning out his closet and trying to sell an old stained shirt with a rip.

I wanted to do the same thing but in my case it was because I was too poor to buy it when it first came out. Maybe it is for the best because a 50 year-old white guy would probably look pretty silly walking around in a neon colored Andre Agassi T-shirt or in a Public Enemy T shirt. Might be able to get away with wearing some old school Nike sneakers.

Strange the merch stores of those bands don't offer vintage T shirt reprints.

Even Maiden's official site has very slim pickens on classic tees other than the really iconic ones, and if any band's fans would be interested it would be there's.

I actually just found a few on Hot Topic of all places, and cheaper than elsewhere.  Not a great selection, but a few.  And they're a real store with a real return policy at least.

I'm pretty sure that the ONLY people who would walk around in a a neon colored Andre Agassi or Public Enemy T-shirt in 2021 would be a 50-year old white guy.

Hot Topic and Boxlunch have a decent selection of things.  I know that you can find "shirts", but if you are replacing specific tour shirts, good luck.  Some of them go for hundreds now.  As far as Mattingly goes, a few years back I got a really nice old school spring training style shirt (navy with the NY on front and 23 on back) from Modell's, but they are gone now too.  I would suggest the Yankees Clubhouse, or whatever the fuck they are calling it now.  There are two stores in NYC (maybe one now, I think the one in Manhattan was a COVID casualty).  You don't necessarily see everything online because in a lot of instances the website is handled by MLB.  If you call the store, they may be able to tell you what they have.  And in this day and age, you know damn well they will ship to you because nobody is going to the store with no baseball games.

I'm actually finding Amazon to be a decent source. For super mainstream bands like Black Sabbath, I just found a great selection. They even have some Mattingly shirts. Amazon does everything better.

Try authenticbandmerch.com has a ton of old school 60's,70's, and 80's concert t-shirts. I bought a CBGB tee and was pleased with both the quality, the price, and the turnaround time.

Wal-mart's been selling retro Maiden, GNR, AC/DC and other shirts for awhile, now:
https://www.walmart.com/search/?query=iron%20maiden%20shirt

Or do the hipster thing and get some cat-themed retro metal satire shirts:
https://brutal-kittens.teespring.com/

I'd get this one, but the Old Lady says it's "too scary":

This site has some fun retro-themed metal satire shirts. Mostly of old video games, but I like their Mandalorian shirts:

I found that Maiden Trooper shirt that Walmart is selling for the same price on Hot Topic and it's on its way.  This kitten stuff I wouldn't be caught dead wearing.  I did find an officially licensed Maiden-Baby Yoda crossover shirt somewhere, but even that was a hard no.

BTW, I still have one Maiden concert shirt-- "Be Quick or Be Dead" from their 1992 Fear of the Dark tour. It has a newspaper print "all over" design. I didn't wear it too much, since it was so loud. Maybe 6 times, total. Last time I wore it was in the summer of 1999 when I went to their "Reunion/Ed Hunter" tour.

I've sold all my other tour shirts, over the years, but I've been saving this one for some reason.

So I got my first 2 shirts from Amazon. The GNR one was meant to be an exact replacement of a shirt I've had for 30 years. As soon as I opened the package, my heart sank because I knew it was a terrible copy. So I put them side by side and realized that they bootlegged it. They shrunk the image and the colors are more faded than on my 30-year old shirt. But then I realized that the new shirt doesn't even include the image on the back, they only copied the front.  If I didn't have the real shirt, I never would've known.  It's worse quality than you'd find if you paid a hobo $5 for a rip-off in the parking lot after a concert. I just got off the phone with Amazon and they won't just refund me, I have to return it. They wanted me to go to a UPS center, but when I screamed bloody murder they agreed to just send someone to my house to pick it up.  You can imagine how it went trying to explain to the woman who barely spoke English what was wrong.  I'm sending back the other shirt too, a Black Sabbath one. It seems better, but since I don't have the original to compare it to and they proved to be bootleggers, I assume it's not high quality either. Now I have a bunch of others coming over the next few days and I'm expecting the worst.

The only place I have ever seen them in the last ten years was at live shows.

But if someone is advertising the shirt I wouldn’t expect them to make a cheap replica of only one side. Don’t sell the shirt then. I guess I have no hope of replacing it though from what you’re saying.

I think these are more shirts that were made this year that are meant to be retro rather than the actual shirts that were sold 30-35 years ago. But it might be the best I can do.
