Anyone watching The Rock's sitcom? I have mixed feelings. I think the core of the show is fine. I absolutely hate the premise of future Rock running for President and having these horrible lame and unfunny scripted interviews with the Asian reporter. That's just TV at its worst. And The Rock's humble act comes off as heelish and probably hits too close to home since I feel like this whole show really is an ad campaign to test the waters for a presidential run. As far as the rest of the show, Rocky Johnson is perfectly cast and they did the best they could with the Wild Samoans, Andre the Giant, and Iron Sheik. Their Ric Flair and Roddy Piper were just atrocious last night, at least get an actor that weigh more than 150 to play a wrestler. Rocky Johnson is probably coming off way too well, but they did make him at least half the carny he was in real life, although he's a bullshit artist with the proverbial heart of gold. They throw in enough inside references without explaining them that they're clearly catering to wrestling fans. A lot of what's said would completely go over the heads of just the average sitcom viewer. I can't help but wish the show was just funnier though.

I enjoyed the first episode better than the second. I'm with you in the appreciation that they haven't made Rocky into a saint, because he was about as far from being one as you can get. The woman playing Ata is great. I don't think Flair or Piper come back as actual characters so I'm less worried about them, but yeah, they were pencil-thin. The wrestlers who keep appearing need to be realistic. And, what's the over/under on how many indy wrestlers decided to become The Gull overnight? Oh, and I agree 100% that the interview with the Presidential Rock and Randall Park is the lamest part of the show, embarrassing.

I definitely think this is him dipping his toe into the political water per se to get a feel for things for a serious run at a presidential run down the line. And I’m sure they’ll cover his roody poo candy ass and poontang pie schtick from his wrestling days and he will get ahead of that being controversial now on the show in case he really does run for president later. Also, the show is alright but I think the only thing that may keep it on the air is having The Rock on the show week after week.

The show fucking sucks. My wife is a HUGE Rock mark, told me to delete all future episodes because it is cringe worthy.

I saw the first episode and thought it was OK. I missed the second one. Didn't know it was on. I would replace Randall Park with Jim Cornette.

I watched the first two episodes and thought it may be some of the worst television I’ve ever seen - cringeworthy indeed. I really really really REALLY hate that Asian interviewer. There’s absolutely no reason why The Rock can’t narrate this show without the Asian interviewer schtick. None. The fact that he thinks this is good is shocking considering how long he’s been around now, doing mostly high quality shows and movies. Those bits take up way too much of the show and I guarantee people changed the channel when that was the first thing they saw.

I'm watching the episode with Rocky wrestling Flair in Oregon and Piper in Landover. The part of Rocky winning clean in the middle always cuts right before the part where he embellishes to someone about getting the 3-count. That is a nice touch if you check the results for those dates.

I was ready to scream to wife “Piper never jobbed to Rocky, or anyone else for that matter!”, which would’ve been met with a blank stare. But Rocky is supposed to be a bullshit artist, and they never show the finish. So I approve.
