The director of Ric Flair’s “30 For 30” on ESPN has apologized for the way he handled the tone of the documentary when discussing Flair exposing himself. He says he was not aware of the forcible touching accusations that were revealed by Vice, but he admits that he knew about multiple incidents of indecent exposure towards both men and women, and Greg Gagne’s interview about his behavior along those lines at a frat house was included in the finished product, and the tone was humorous. He took responsibility for not taking that particular behavior seriously enough, although he defended the piece in general and said he went to great lengths to show the negative effects of his philandering lifestyle on his family.

I don't pay much attention to the current product, but it's just odd that they substituted Warrior for Flair since I remember all the controversy Warrior had.

Raven went on Twitter and said he was disappointed that no one contacted him for the Kanyon episode. He said he would’ve done it and feels like he could’ve added a lot to the show.

This is a common theme, where that next interview isn't done, someone key to the story.
I feel the same way about the upcoming Johnny K9 episode -- I did his programs when he promoted, and I was just a teenager, but we became friends. In between prison stints, he did one interview -- with me.
I went to his funeral and was mistaken for a cop since I was the only one in a suit.
Now, in their defense, interviews don't always pan out, someone wants (too much) money, isn't close by, whatever.
With the COVID regulations the way they were, they actually brought people into a make-shift studio / hotel in Florida for many of the interviews.
Who knows why Raven wasn't chosen. There were many roads they could have gone down too, including more on the acting / stunt coordinating which he did for both Ready to Rumble and the Jesse Ventura TV bio pic.

It just seemed a bit off that so much of the show was Jim Mitchell talking about stuff that happened between them in private. Even if Mitchell wasn't a carny, that would be a pretty shaky foundation to build an episode on.

The only issue I have with the interviews and all the "after the fact" is that where do you stop the interviews? I mean they could have probably dug deeper with DDP, obviously Raven, but then what? They could have interviewed Glacier, Ernest Miller, etc.

I don’t think Glacier and Miller were his friends though, they just worked him. Raven said they were close. You need more than one or two perspectives on a personal basis if you’re going to do this story.

Surely you interview everyone if you want the real story. At least you talk to everyone and find out what they have to say. Everyone you mentioned should absolutely have been contacted for the show.

As a journalist, I'll say that's a lovely pipe dream. Of course you WANT to interview as many people as possible, but there are so many challenges at play:
- availability
- location
- cost (I have never paid for an interview, though I have bought a beer or dinner)
- their mental state / trust factor- time / deadline
It's incredibly common for great stories to come out after I write something -- where were you when I needed you? That kind of thing.
Dark Side of the Ring has done a decent job overall, in my opinion. Perfect? Of course not. There was only one Mr. Perfect and he OD'd, proving perfection doesn't exist.

I would have thought all of that was obvious Greg, but obviously not to everyone. I do agree there was too much Jim Mitchell on this one.

I'm sure it can be very frustrating to write something and THEN everyone comes out of the woodwork with different takes which you would only have loved to have before going to print.

Obviously not EVERYONE, but this specific episode had a lot of obvious people missing. They have made a lot of episodes now, so you'd think it would be better than just a glorified shoot interview, which is all the Kanyon episode was.
