Looks like Tom Phillips didn't lose his job but something weird happened.  And Samoa Joe is off the announce team so maybe he'll return to the ring.

PWInsider:

WWE® (NYSE: WWE) today announced that Adnan Virk will make his debut as the new play-by-play voice of Monday Night Raw tonight at 8/7c on USA Network. “I'm elated to be joining the premier sports entertainment company in my new role with WWE,” said Adnan Virk. “As a kid who grew up idolizing WWE Hall of Famers like Bret Hart and Ric Flair, the opportunity to call modern legends like Drew McIntyre, Bobby Lashley, Randy Orton, Charlotte Flair and so many others alongside Corey Graves and Byron Saxton is truly humbling."

In addition to becoming the voice of Monday Night Raw, Adnan Virk will continue his on-air host role across MLB Network’s programming this season. Additionally, he hosts The GM Shuffle podcast with Michael Lombardi on the Cadence 13 network and the popular movie podcast “Cinephile” with Meadowlark Media. Previously, Adnan worked at ESPN where he primarily covered college football and baseball. He was also a studio host for ESPN's college football coverage and a play-by-play announcer and studio host for the network's coverage of Major League Baseball. He has guest hosted SportsCenter, Outside the Lines, Olbermann, ESPN’s coverage of the College World Series, and Mike & Mike. Virk also hosted backstage Oscar's coverage for ABC's "The Oscars: All Access."

Virk will be joined at ringside for every Monday Night Raw by analyst Corey Graves, who began his commentating career in 2014 and has distinguished himself with a unique style and opinionated insights, and analyst Byron Saxton, a veteran with more than a decade of experience behind the microphone.

Tom Phillips will become the new host of 205 Live and oversee special projects for WWE’s programming on Peacock and at the WWE Performance Center in Orlando. Phillips also remains in his role of Senior Manager, On Air Talent.

Samoa Joe remains part of the WWE talent roster.

Unless something changes - it looks like Joe is going back in the ring. As they specifically mention he's part of the WWE Talent Roster, that means he's no longer a broadcaster. Also sounds like Tom Philips wanted off the road. He's now 100% based out of Orlando. I can't blame him for that.

I hope so.  His career seemed to end very abruptly so I hope he gets one last run.  But with his history of concussions, it's tricky.  If Edge and Bryan are back, I'm sure Joe can go another year though.

I can't admit to paying much attention these days, but if I have things right from about one year ago... they had Vic Joseph who they moved to doing special projects like a podcast with Corey Graves... Dio Madden who did not last 3 weeks and he is now gimmicked up and working as one of those Retribution thugs (or was anyway)...Jerry Lawler who they will put anywhere except in the ring... and then Byron Saxton who they also use anywhere except working in the ring. Joe and Phillips already discussed. It's more of a headline to list "Announcing Team stays put" it seems.

I agree with you, he should get a nice goodbye as he's put in his time everywhere.  But I do hope that he's still in their announcing plans, because I went out of my way to check him out back when he started doing it and he seems to be very good at it.  Almost as good as Punk was back in what, 2010?  The year that he had hip surgery, or a hip injury that he needed to rest.  He was on Raw wearing a jacket that still had the price tags on it from Mens Wearhouse.

He showed promise at the beginning but was quickly pulled back into line and is now as crappy and boring as everyone else.

Not watching the show yet but all the sports sites are talking about it and posting clips of his calls. You’d think WWE would like that but I think Vince will resent the fact that he is a real sportscaster like Mauro Ranallo was and not as likely to repeat every bullshit line that gets fed to him.

Vince would have fired Gordon Solie.  We cannot have this sound too real...

Adnan Vrik had some moments last night when he was good and some others when he sounded shaky. It’s a work in progress. The WWE and fans will need to be patient. I have no idea when he signed and how much training and practice he had prior to debuting. Calling wrestling isn’t an easy job due to its worked nature and increasingly complex moves, to say nothing of how produced these guys are with Vince or whomever on the headset. Mike Adamle famously flopped because he was rushed on to the air before he was ready. Unlike Adamle, Vrik at least doesn’t have to feel the heat for replacing JR.

Samoa Joe will be back on commentary eventually. The WWE shuffles the announcers so often that it’s inevitable.

I don't think he is bad but his voice with Saxton and Graves is an acquired taste

Michael Cole and Pat McAfee are the new SmackDown announce team.

WTF?  McAfee was so great as a heel manager in NXT.  As an announcer he's going to be annoying as hell, especially after Cole "teaches him".  Cole turned Graves into an insufferable prick after he showed so much promise early on, and McAfee will be worse.  Why can't WWE use anyone in the right capacity ever?  They had gold with McAfee with what he was doing before.
