On this date in 1980, a Blue Jays-Twins game at Exhibition Stadium was suspended after 14 innings.  The reason...The Cars were about to play a rock concert at the venue and the crew couldn't wait any longer before setting it up.

Any other ones?

This White Sox played the Brewers in late May of 1984 at Old Comiskey Park. The game was tied and went into the wee hours of the morning, up to the 2am curfew. They had to stop it around the 21st inning. The next night, they restarted the game at 6pm and continued on until Harold Baines hit a walkoff homer to win it in the Bottom of the 25th.

The Sox and Brewers were both running out of players. The Sox were down to their last pitchers (starting pitchers). Tom Seaver was the scheduled starter for the regularly scheduled game on the night they continued this game. LaRussa brought Seaver in to pitch the top of the 24th and top of the 25th, the Sox won it like I said, and then Seaver came back out and pitched the 2nd game. He won both games. One of the only men in baseball history to get two W's on the same day. It was kinda like Seaver just pitched one game but had a really long inning in between (like a rain delay or a long at-bat by the Sox) before the 2nd game started.

Don't know if this counts but NBA game was suspended at half time between 76ers and Nets. Officials were giving out technical fouls like crazy .You're suppose to be remove from game after Two. A players and a coach were given three and allowed to stay in game. Game was re-started at half time at later date. During time commissoner was deciding on protest 76ers trade Ralph Simpson, Eric Money , and Harvey Catchings to Nets. Those three scored for both teams in one game. First half 76ers, second half Nets.

Football (soccer) rules state that a team must have at least seven players for a game to continue. Only once in the history of English football has this rule ever come into play, and it's almost unheard of anywhere in the world.

A match between Sheffield United and West Brownich Albion from 2002, it was dubbed the "Battle of Brammall Lane."

From Wikipedia "United goalkeeper Simon Tracey was sent off in the 9th minute for deliberately handling the ball outside the area to stop a shot at goal. Albion striker Scott Dobie gave his side the lead going into half-time, and midfielder Derek McInnes doubled the lead in the 63rd minute, prompting United manager Neil Warnock to make two substitutions; Santos and Patrick Suffo came on, but both received red cards within moments. Santos committed a dangerous two-footed tackle on Johnson, and Suffo headbutted McInnes in the ensuing melee. Down to eight men, United conceded a third goal, with Dobie scoring his second of the afternoon. United midfielder Michael Brown and defender Robert Ullathorne suffered injuries that meant they could no longer take part in the match. Because United had already used all of their allowed substitutions, referee Eddie Wolstenholme, who had already declined to send off both Brown and captain Keith Curle for clear red-card offences, was forced to abandon the match in the 82nd minute, as dictated by the rules of the game."

The referee later admitted that he had declined to issue red cards for the late incidents because he didn't want to abandon the game. It was suspected that the injuries, at least the second, match-ending one, were faked to force the abandonment, but both players missed subsequent games through their injures.

Albion were later awarded a 3-0 victory.

Albion were already 3-0 up at the time. There could have been repercussions because Albion were neck-and-neck with Wolverhampton Wanderers - the Baggies' biggest rivals - for promotion, with similar points and similar goal difference. It was not unfeasible at the time that they could have ended up dead level, with the Baggies complaining that they had lost the chance in those last few minutes at the Lane to rack up a couple more goals.

As it happened, Wolves imploded, Albion got automatic promotion, and my team (Birmingham City) got one of the other promotion spots after winning through the promotion play-offs. :D

The law came in because of a game in the 1890s (I think a Lancashire derby between Bolton and Blackburn) when Blackburn were down to 1 player after the others all walked off in protest at the refereeing. Which led to the game not being able to re-start because the one Blackburn player could not kick-off without someone else to touch the ball as well.

Fun one right now. Brazil v Argentina World Cup qualifier. Abandoned after 10 minutes when Brazilian officials turned up to arrest four Argentine players for breaking Brazilian laws on Covid isolation.

Isn't that a built-in wrestling angle though? I can imagine MJF refusing to take on Jericho on the basis that he has not undergone Canadian isolation or something.
