The Viking Raiders returned to NXT last night to start an angle with the Creed Brothers where they will likely put them over next week and the whole deal will be over and done with in 8 days. At least they get to hang out in Florida for a week while they rehearse the match.

I felt the need to punish myself and watch this week's show. I thought it might be so much wrestlecrap that it would be funny. It's certainly crap, but it's not funny. I can't believe USA are happy with this show on national television. The few people that know what they are doing aren't able to help this show, they're being dragged down. Without exaggerating, Natalya has more experience than the entire NXT women's division combined, and she looks like every other rookie because none of these women know how to sell a kick. Awful wrestling, even worse acting, and they are killing the only decent guy they have created in the most ridiculous nonsense angle. Minus five stars.

The chubby chick that they signed out of the new GLOW had the simplest spot possible where she was on her opponent and there was a kick out and she was supposed to throw herself through the ropes. She launched herself head first in a way that would've been comical if she didn't come inches from paralyzing herself. Some of these girls can't do ANYTHING and they're having matches on national TV, always inches from death multiple times per episode.

And the way Wade Barrett was talking about her would have had Jerry Lawler complaining that he was sexualising her too much. I have to somewhat admire Barrett's complete lack of shame as he just says whatever they tell him to and pockets his check. One positive, Von Wagner is killing it with his skinny-armed caveman gimmick. Very convincing. Last edited on Thu Apr 28th, 2022 08:12 pm by Kriss ____________________ “Never argue with an idiot. Harland and Persia Perotta were the two other "big" names released. So Indi Hartwell's husband and best friend have both been released. Harland's release explains why he wasn't on this week's show after being by Joe Gacy's side for the past few months. For the record, the others are Raelyn Divine (never wrestled), Mila Malani (brief indie career, but no matches for WWE), Draco Anthony (205 Live and Level Up jobber), Sanjana George (never wrestled) and Paige Prinzivalli (brief indie career, was training as a referee). Reports are that both Bivens and Dakota Kai had refused new deals from WWE recently, so those two releases are not unexpected. Kai had had dark matches on SmackDown and the word was that Vince wasn't interested in bringing her to the main roster, so with over 5 years in developmental at 33 years old, she clearly had no future there. Meltzer says to expect more NXT releases every 90 days with an incredibly strict and stressful plan in place for these NXT talents to improve or get cut. He said Harland basically wasn’t showing enough improvement so they just got rid of him with little thought. That will continue to happen as many NXT projects aren’t showing improvement and they know it, and are no longer willing to work with talents for years to get them where they need to be. It’s sink or swim time. Continuity will obviously be affected, making the shows more impossible to watch as pushed talents just continue to disappear. On Bivens, Meltzer says that was more about him refusing a contract extension so they fired him before he could leave on their own. The release happened days before Bivens was set to make his stand-up comedy debut, a show that was heavily promoted on social media by Bivens’ WWE and NXT friends, some of whom were supposed to be (and still might be) in attendance.

Predictably, Fightful is reporting that Roderick Strong has requested his release many times over the past several months but it has not been granted. He asked again yesterday after the latest round of cuts and was again denied. His Diamond Mine stable that once consisted of 8 people is down to just him.

They know exactly where he's going when he leaves WWE, but they are just being petty about this. Roderick Strong will get a big pop when he first appears for AEW, but I don't see him ringing new fans to AEW. If you are a Roderick Strong fan, you already watch AEW, and likely have been since the start. He's pretty much an AEW mole in the NXT camp right now, so maybe it works out for everyone. As probably the last veteran left in NXT, what does he do all week? Is he training like everyone else in developmental? Is he some kind of informal coach? He hardly ever wrestles, so he doesn't have to take part in match rehearsals. Or does he just spend all week working out and enjoying the Florida sun?

Two quickie vignettes back-to-back address their talent releases without saying so: Diamond Mine has Roderick Strong browbeating the Creed Bros. and Ivy Nile making it clear he is the driving force behind their group. Following that, Indie Hartwell and Duke Hudson meet up in the locker room making sad faces at each other...and then suddenly having both tease a kiss, only to act repulsed in both their minds for even thinking to do so. Even with Dexter Lumis and Persia Perotta around, they might have wound up with a sexual tension angle anyway.

It's pretty great watching this tag match with Natalya and Lash Legend facing Cora Jade and Nikkita Lyons. Nattie is coaching in real-time with everyone involved, including the referee. She's turning 40 this month and doesn't look grizzled next to these early-20s gals. She's the real star here, but the story of the match is how she put every one of the other girls in position to look good.
