Does anybody else enjoy the movie “Duel” with Dennis Weaver?    Even though corny and unbelievable in spots, I have watched this movie many, many times.  I think this was one of Spielberg’s first moves, maybe his the first one he produced.

The movie was released on November 13, 1971?

Anybody have any weird theories on it?

It was his first film and it is brilliant. One of those movies I sometimes see late at night and I never turn it off.

This was Spielberg's first movie. First broadcast as a TV movie on ABC, more footage was filmed to get the running time up to 90 mins and it was then released theatrically in Europe.

They could have fit all of the dialog on one page. Really hated Dennis Weaver on TV in those days but he was excellent in that movie.

ABC was producing made for tv movies and had more than a few good ones in the horror genre: Bad Ronald, Killdozer, Gargoyles in addition to this classic.

"Kolchak: The Night Stalker" with Darren McGavin started as a TV Movie of the Week.

"Trilogy of Terror" was also an ABC TV Movie.

Never a full shot. When Weaver stops for gas we see the driver kicking the tires and fuel tank of his  truck.

Some feel that his identity was shown in the movie.  I never figured it out. 😁

IIRC, the driver steps out of the truck & I think removes a hat revealing  long hair & we're led to believe it's a woman.

I don't think her face was ever shown.

A woman?  Never heard that one.  Interesting.
