A few of us got into some rasslin’ talk while having a few cocktails last weekend. We started unto the “Who is dead? Who is alive?” Checking things out via the cell phones we came upon Nikolai Volkoff who died in 2018 at the age of 70. Wasn’t he a Bruno type who supposedly did not dabble in drugs and did not use steroids. Not sure about alcohol. I thought he prided himself on staying in good shape. Although, looking at some his antics in the WWF bloopers with Mean Gene, maybe he was dabbling in some powder. This photo has him looking like wrinkled prune and way older than 70. He died at age 70. That seems pretty young for a guy who stayed in relatively good shape. No real details in his death other than he got sick a few days, went to the hospital and treated for dehydration and was sent home and then he ended up dying. Was anybody surprised by his death? Nikolai by all accounts was a great guy who went out of his way to give fans a good experience at indy shows and conventions in his later years. I always heard he stayed away from the partying also. 70 is far from old but it’s old enough that things happen and it’s not a shock to get sick at that age. He was making appearances up to the end, but I heard the last couple of weeks he was not well, so it was a shock but it wasn’t.

70 is not young, but I think a heart attack or stroke would be something more expected to kill him. We just found it odd due to the positive things heard about Volkoff.
