Is anyone here planning to attend the NWA Legends Fan Fest in Charlotte, NC at the University Hilton.  Its Thursday August 6 - Sunday August 9.  Its kind of like a Star Trek Convention for Wrestling Fans (Many who have never kissed a girl and live in their parents basements)  If you get past that its a really good time.  Some interesting Q&A sessions, indy wrestling matches (with a legend or 2 thrown in like the Abdullah the Butcher vs Steve Corino match already booked), there is a pretty good vendor room where a who's who of the wrestling memorabilia world (George Mayfieldi, Rob Fienstein, High spots, etc) selling DVDs, photos, posters, action figures, etc, the autograpgh stage (I steer clear of that), and usually a really wild time in the hotel bar each night.  This is where you can toss drinks back with anyone from Sir Oliver Humperdink to Harley Race to r. Delaware.

It's also been announced that the original Four Horsemen will be reunited at the convention. I won't be attending, but I've sent a some mail order.

Ole in the same room as Flair? That should be interesting.

I really would love to go to one of these. Every year at this time I always say "I'm going to get organized about this and plan to go next year."
But then a few weeks later when the fan fest talk dies down I always forget...until next year. It's a shame too 'cause all the guys I would want to see just are not going to be around to many more years unfortunately.

Barry Windham will be part of this...so you have the original and the best vision of the horsemen in one room.

I hope that nwalegends will be selling a auto pic of the 1988 vision like they did the original group a few years ago.

I think that Doc Delaware would have jizzed on His MSG master tapes if He could read that.

Here's the response I got from NWA Legends direct Greg whatshisname via email in reference to a signed photo ordered through the mail of The Original Four Horsemen. Not sure if they have a similar deal for the Barry Windham group.

We also have a nice 16"x20" photo signed by all 5 for $109. That includes shipping in a plastic toploader and 5 4"x6" photos of them signing it.

That sounds like the one he was selling a very years ago. I have that its a really great pic.

Guess I ll email him to see if they are doing anything with the windham group. That picture of the group with all the titles would be a good one to get signed.

The bar is the draw for me.  Be it Buddy Landell working the marks for free drinks, to Gary Hart and Oliver Humperdink and me talking managing, to the Manny Fernandez, Somoa Joe, Major DeBeers chop fest its a good time.

You should ask Chris OTL about his and mine's experience w/Col DeBeers, it's a pretty good one.

I dont know who Major Debeers is, but Col Debeers(Ed Wiskowski?) was funny as hell @ CAC a few years back, trashing many folks and the biz. Chris and I were crying from laughing so hard, good guy Ed is.

By the way Grog, I'll see you @ FF.

I sent my original four horsemen poster through the mail a few years ago to get signed by arn & tully. Not only was my poster misplaced, but tully never even signed it. Greg's response pretty much made me feel like he could not give a crap and the shit happens. Horrible business man in my opinion. I'd love to know how he gets that price for the poster this year. I paid more than that to have Flair sign mine at Caroline's in NYC.

from Price on facebook.

I am looking for someone out there that has some incredible Four Horsemen pics, good possibilities for 8x10s or even posters. What I can't use is low-res pics from the internet, but if someone has actual photos or magazines that can be scanned at 300dpi or higher, I'd like to hear from you. If we use your image, I'll make sure you get a nice "reward" for your help. Please email me at NWALegends@aol.com Thanks!

It doesn't get better than a drunk fan going to every worker at the bar to get chopped.

I love Fanfest. Been going since they started. It's a great opportunity to get merchandise (for me, that means season sets of ... just about whatever), meet wrestlers, and just hang out with old friends.

No matter the line up, it's a blast each year.

I totally agree with Graham....its a great time and the hotel bar is off the hook each night.I have been there for the last and its great to hang out with old friends as well as the wrestlers!I did sell out for the Horsemen pic,the one with Barry Windham and Ole and am considering the Flair/Race with the NWA Belt....

If anyone else is going to be there drop by the bar and we will be there, that goes for Graham also....see you there

LOL, he'll definitely be there. He's looking forward to it. Although, I dont know why? He and his buddies cant fucking stalk Stan Hansen, like they did 3 years ago in Md. Christ on a bicycle! Hansen was ready to clobber them. Dennis told me they scared him.

Cut the shit and keep trying to get ahold of Scott, please. If OLC is dead we need to give it a proper eulogy/funeral/death thread or something.

I dont think so...I think it was an AWA title or something. They kept hounding him @ the bar, and Hansen was visibly pissed and walked away. They got all butt hurt and then whined all fucking night about how he dissed them, andf they didnt know why he left so abruptly?

How many fanboys were part of Delaware's entourage? Was his wife with him wearing her half of the NWA World Tag-Team Championships?

Hey if they were to get divorced who would keep the belts? I know each would keep one half of each of the tag straps. but what about the singles titles?

Dont know about his wife...when he and his gang were in Rockville in '06,(when he was hounding Hansen) it was just him and 2 guys.

By the way, you should all check out the fanfest forum board.......Abby was there...and he made a few friends I see. The guy's a real douchebag, and doesnt do anything, unless $$$$'s involved. I've seen him be a douche to fans, I don't know why he continues getting invited/brought into these things if he acts this way?

Problem is bud, is that if you do that on Greg's board....you get an earful/tongue lashing from GP. I dont want to hear it, thats why I dont say anything about it.

Abby's a known douche to many fans, yet folks keep sticking up for/booking him.

If someone like Jake did it, he'd be ridiculed to no end, and be called a "piece of shit...yadda yadda yadda". But since it's Abby, it's ok? and promoters still keep using guys like him for their shows, I don't understand that.

Shocking news, a guy who still takes bookings at (or near) 70 despite not being able to climb in the ring anymore is all about money.

Next thing you know, someone's going to try to say rasslin's not on the up and up.

It's a bit scary that the time has come, that Harley Race could probably get more ass for his attractiveness than Tommy Rich.

HA HA, That is so true HTF. Tommy looks worse though in a pic over at Slam Wrestling that was taken this weekend with him and Austin Idol. Idol actually looks great compared to most of the "legends" appearing there this weekend.

Back from Fan Fest.  I missed all the Thursday stuff but heard 2 views depending on how big a Flair mark you are it was either good or nothing new.

Got in Friday and while walking around the Vendors room met the illustrious Dr. Delaware.  Nice enough guy who seems to enjoy the heat he gets on message boards.  There was some sort of verbal sparring with Tommy Rich and Tommy Rogers but I only herad about it.  Me ans Steve Johnson picked up Don Fargo from the airport and he was highly entertaining.  Informed us his old tag partner Jim Baggis live sin Charlotte and will be showing up.  Also first time in like 30 years he would see Jackie Fargo.  I did the photo op with the managers, (Humperdink, Cornette, Jimmy Hart and JJ)  Me, Steve and Jim Ryan went to boardwalk Billies for afternoon beers and wings sinc eit looked like the autograpgh line for the Horsemen would go forever.  Not sure how many got thru but Dave uth was 241 and he took a photo thru for me at around 6:30Pm (the Hall of Heros banquet was tos tart at 730)

They started letting you in the banquet at 8:15, I sat with dave Ruth at Don Fargo's table, Jackie Fargo sat next to us with Bobby Fulton.  In the course of the night Ric Falir came by our table to say hello to Fargo, Bob Backlund sat on Fargo's lap   and Fargo seemed to be enjoying the attention.  He's 81 but looks good for that age.  Once the hall of hero's inductions started with jim Cornette Mcing, Fargo moved to Jackie's table and Bobby Fulton got displaced.  The Fargo's were making comments (pretty funny) during the extra long induction of nelson Royal.  They they were inducted by Jerry Jarrett and told lots of tales of getting naked.  They next inducted wahoo McDaniel who's son was to emotional to say much, then Flair told everyone to get a drink as he was going to be long winded in inducting Blackjack Mulligan.  Barry Windham accepte dthe award but was emotional about his dad's condtion and only said thanks.  After the banquet I noticed a guy in at-shirt sitting across from me who everyone was shaking his hand and asked who it was and didn't recognize Tommy Rogers, I went over to say hello and he recognized me (felt bad about that one), me and Steve talked to jerry Jarret after ward, me and Jarrett talked about his old nieghbor Bobby Bare as I am friends with Bare Jr.  Then retired to the bar where it was way too crowded, highlights were Lacey Von Erich with a another hot chick sitting on her lap and the Nasty Boys trying to get up with them.  Eric Watts was with them.  Had a beer with Bruce Mitchell from the Torch and me and Steve had a hotel 2 exits away so we headed out around 1 Pm.  Ole Anderson was holding corurt in the lobby as we left.

Saturday, they had a Memphis Q&A hosted by Scott Bowden with Lance Russell, Dave Brown and Jerry Jarrett.  OK but no crowd questions, Lance told me afterward he knew I was going to ask something (which I told him was to Jerry Jarrett, did you break off from Gulas so you didn't have to push or team for George Gulas any more)  Had a good talk with Scott Bowden and he seemed like a good guy.

The vendors had ton's of guests some with lines (Somoans, Steiners, Lanny Poffo) some without (Bob Orton Sr, Debra, Lex Luger, Sunny)  I talked to Slick in the hall way, nice guy.  I took JJ and Chris Cruise to the airport and had a great talk about indy wrestling.  Got back hung out with Baby Doll for a while watching the huge autograph line and then went and checke dinto the Holiday Inn across the street, Poison was in town and tons of concert goers staying theer beside the Fan Fest over flow and Carolina Panthers tarining camp fans (it was fan fest there as well).  Went to dinner with Pete Lederberg and a bunch of guys from Florida, (Dave and jeff sat with us so talked to them but a few others sat in another booth so no idea who they were.  We choose not to go watch the matches and stayed in the bar.  Joined Howard Baum there.  Ole Anderson was stilling ranting how much he hated Ric Flair, Dennis Condry was there along with Robert Royal and Stacy Cornette.  The Nasty Boys showed up again along with Eric watts.  Dr, Delawares group was there they went to the Poison concert and said the good Dr. drank too much.  the matches let out and it got crowded again.  Steve Corino came by to say hello, Jimmy Jack Funk Jr who works for me wrestled Chick Donavan that show, he brought wahoo's son Zack over to meet me. I tried to leave about midnight but ended up talking to Sir Oliver Humperdink for about an hour outside the hotel.

Sunday was get away day, the vendor room was empty, lots of vendor guests and no lines (Mr Fuji, Eric Watts, Ox Baker, Powers of Pain (ok they had a few), Italian Stallion) Had a long chat with Cornette, had to drop off one of Greg prices staff to the airport and left by 1:15)

Over all a great weekend, They should have made some $$ with the large amout of guys paying $100 for 4 Horseman photo ops.  Not sure how the Vendors paid their guests because I never saw that big of line for most of them.  Jim Duggan was there 2 days with few takers, Nasty boys worked you like Ox Baker.  Bill Alfonzo had no  one, Backlund and danny Hodge had a few. Most if not all the wrestlers were very fan friendly.  Backlund was 360 degrees different tahn what i had heard about him.  he played around with all the old guys (great stuff with him and danny Hodge.

Believe it, but Doc is a great guy in real-life.

Also, Grog, great summary of the weekend.  Do you have anything specific about the Backlund/Hodge stuff?  Of course I'd ask that question.:D

Backlund went up to him and Hodge was happy to see him, they started putting each other in holds for free photo opps.  Backlund went back over to Hodge multiple times throughout Saturday doing this.

Or am I getting confused with Gotch (who he found in Japan and became enthralled with his cardio training)?

Yes, Backlund was "mentored" so to speak by Hodge during his early stay in the Central States/Midsouth or whatever it was then...so I've read.

I hear that Ole is struggling with MS now, making him even more miserable than usual.  How did Ole seem to be doing at the fest?

Ole has a walker to get around.  He did sit in the lobby all weekend and tell stories and bitch.  Its great to listen too but sometimes if you ask a question he will go off on you..  He seems mentally fine but his physical abilities are going.  Abby was a douche from what I saw and heard, refused to talk to his table at the dinner or even pose for the group photos they took.  then walked away and sat with other wrestlers.  He was selling forks at $10 a pop as well on the autpgraph stage (didn't see that but was told that)

My first meeting with Doc and he seemed like an ok guy.  here are a lot of people who go to this that Ric lair and the Horseman do no wrong, walk on water, etc.  They also don't watch the current product and don't want it discussed which is fine.  Some guys are heat magnets and Dr. delaware seems to be one of those guys.  Those who didn't want to hear his comments should be glad they didn't sit next to the Fargo's at the Hall of Hero's banquet.  They talked and made fun of everyone.

To sum up from that debacle of a thread, it seems that Doc got shit-faced and called Flair out on his pro-WWF comments and the proceeded to make a nuisance of himself by loudly talking through the whole Flair/Race Q&A to the point that Jim Cornette joked on stage about what a drunken douche he was.  I think I got it.  Oh, and he likes to brag about how much he spends on replica belts, but everyone here knew that already.

Those old time broke shit bags'll do anything to get their 10 bux for a stupid poloroid.  Im guessin Dr Delaware coulda talked Arn Anderson into painting his face black, sing "mammy" and do the step n fetch all the while pretending to be Ron Simmons to collect his picture and autograph money.

"passed out guy" in this WC thread about FF is not Doc Delaware is it?
The guy goes by  "MrNWA From Fla."

I thought Doc Delaware uses the Delaware name there too and he doesn't live in Florida too does he? Just sounds like him though after reading that thread.

Here's the facts...

He was with a girlfriend.  Deleware is married.
He did defend his belt collection, but didn't pull out the "I make more money than you." bullshit.
He also didn't post dog-porn.

I'm gonna say it's not Doctor Dougfucker, but sounds like another belt carrying douchebag relative.

These responses I left on Greg's board regarding Road Dog/Billy Gunn's actions @ ff, and this idiot promoters(LOTR) response to how Scott Hall shouldnt be booked, is sure to get me some heat? Oh well.

A little Backstory on both: A few years back, Dusty was a guest @ FF, and walked off in front of a shit load of fans who were waiting for his auto, or pic. Some fans paid for him to sign/take pics, and he just walks off.

Earlier, he refuses to sign someone's belt, unless they give him $25 bucks. Same for a  magazine. Tells the guy if he buys his book, he'll sign it for him.

LOTR is bitching about Jake  sometime back, when i asked if he could be brought in as a guest, either by Greg or a vendor. This fucking idiot, goes on some diatribe about how Jake is a bad guy, and you shouldnt book him...blah blah fucking blah. But, then shoots himself in the foot, when he says:"When I booked him a few months ago, he was cool, and did what i needed". He got all butt hurt when i said "Then you shouldnt have booked him then, if you knew he was a douche to fans in the past right?". he responds with some bullshit excuse, and i said:'No, you booked him, because you knew you;d make $$$ off him, dont be a hypocrite" and he flipped out on me.

Here's a link, so you can "catch up":

http://nwalegends.com/fanfestforum/YaBB.pl?num=1250368584/0

Anyways, I respond to the first post about RD/BG and how Greg says they wont be back:

Quote from HardcoreHeroes on Yesterday at 3:24pm:

.

Unfortunately, from my perspective, when things like that happen in Charlotte, it negates any other positive experiences. I just don't have the time for these guys being rude or obnoxious to a single fan.

Here's my response to his:

So, we should expect not to see Dusty @ a future FF then? as he's been "less than nice" to fans in the past?

I would call walking away from several fans who paid $$$ for his auto/pic, and being rude about signing things unless money's involved not being nice, or rude? not to mention, just being rude to fans overall, an invite NOT to return?

If it's "No Future FF's" for Gunn and RD, then it should be for Dusty as well?

Here's the one I did on Jake/Scott Hall:

Quote from lotrpromoter on Yesterday at 8:59pm:

I see where Ben is coming from. I see where Greg is coming from.

we were dealt the Scott Hall hand a few shows back.

He interupted the ringroast event and was a major inconvienence to work with the following day.

The cops were called to the hotel 3-4 times that weekend on him and twice to another location after he was thrown out of the hotel.

I wish all promoters all the luck in the world when working with him in the future.

My response:

Some promoter will book him, regardless of how he's acted in the past, why? they can make $$$$ off him, and lets be honest, isnt that what it's all about these days?

I remember a ways back, some promoter claiming Jake was a bad person to bring in, but, failed to mention that when they brought him in last time they had an event, he was a nice guy, and did all that was asked of him. Not starting anything, I was just saying that this happened in the past.

Halls rep is notorious for being bad, but guess what? he still keeps getting booked, why? he keeps making $$$ for folks.
